Du temps de Charlemagne, vers l\u2019an 800, au temps de No\u00ebl, une statue de la Vierge Marie fut d\u00e9couverte dans un gen\u00eat fleuri, au hameau de \u00ab Soucieu \u00bb, situ\u00e9 sur un rebord de la vall\u00e9e du Gier, \u00e0 l\u2019extr\u00e9mit\u00e9 des Monts du Lyonnais, devenu depuis \u00ab Valfleury \u00bb (Loire). Une chapelle y fut aussit\u00f4t construite, qui devint lieu de p\u00e8lerinages. Des moines b\u00e9n\u00e9dictins vinrent desservir le sanctuaire, semble-t-il en l\u2019an 1052. Ce sont eux qui donn\u00e8rent au lieu ce beau nom de Valfleury<\/p>\n\n\n\n
